On Saturday, August 11th, the Magic Valley Astronomical Society will hold its August
meeting at the Pomerelle Ski Area on top of Mount Harrison. Come join us at the top
of the ski run for observing from over 8600 feet above sea level.
Bring your mountain bike! Take the ski lift to the top of the mountain
then ride down. Have dinner at the outdoor grill, then join us for an informative
presentation on the latest Black Hole science. Finally we hope to have wonderful
dark skies for observing. The Perseid meteor shower should be near peak, and we
won't have any moon to interfere with deep sky viewing.
Solar Viewing starts at 2 pm. Dinner at the outdoor grill 6-7 pm. More solar viewing
7-8 pm. Chris Anderson will speak from 8-9. The ski lift will run from 9 to midnight.
If you are bringing a telescope please contact us well in
advance so we can make arrengements to get it to the top of the mountain.

Exit 216, Declo, is the second exit east of Burley.
Turn South on 77, go past Albion to the Howell Canyon road.
Follow Howell Canyon road to the Pomerell Ski Resort. Watch for their signs...
It is about 70 miles from the Perrine bridge, and I believe the whole road is paved.
